Non Bacterial Prostatitis
Non-bacterial
prostatitis is a medical condition that has no common cause. Men
may mistake a single instance of painful urination for something
that is normal up until they realize that they have been
experiencing it once in a while in their lifetime. Others
experience pain after having an intercourse and ignore it. Some
will mistake it as something infectious or relate it to their
existing illness.
Embarrassed of its symptoms, others will opt to self-medicate or
choose not to consult a physician. Many men suffering from
non-bacterial prostatitis are not perceptive of its symptoms and
this lack of knowledge may fallout to chronic prostatitis or
prostate cancer.
Non-bacterial prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate
gland and it is difficult to detect and treat considering its
unknown cause. A variety of presumptions relating to non-bacterial
prostatitis have emerged but still, there is no definite cause that
leads to the disease.
Urinary problems brought about by the urethra pressing on to the
prostate gland may cause non-bacterial prostatitis. Another related
cause may be inflammation due to the urine surging into the
prostate gland. Other presumptions that cause non-bacterial
prostatitis include obligate anaerobic bacteria, trichomonads,
virus and fungi.
Preventive Measures to Avoid Non-Bacterial Prostatitis
1. Limit the intake of meat and dairy products, fatty food,
sugar and white flour. Caffeinated and alcoholic beverages should
also be eliminated from the diet of a non-bacterial prostatitis
patient.
2. Non-bacterial prostatitis patients should eat leafy
vegetables, fruit juices, soy bean products, grains and nuts.
Pumpkin seeds are also good for it contains fatty acids and plant
sterol that help prevent the disease. Zinc can also be found on
pumpkin seeds, which is essential in the proper development and
function of the male reproductive organ and prostate gland.
3. Non-bacterial prostatitis patients should avoid margarine,
shortening and other processed food that contain hydrogenated
fat.
4. Food products that contain fatty acids such as omega-3 and
omega-6 prevent allergies and inflammations that might result to
non-bacterial prostatitis.
5. Saw palnetto is beneficial to males suffering from
non-bacterial prostatitis. It balances the hormone levels through
the excretion of DHT which reproduces the prostate cells.
6. Non-bacterial prostatitis patients should not self-medicate
by taking antibiotics because not all cases can be treated by
antibiotics. There are some antibiotic drugs that deplete friendly
bacteria such as lactobacilli, streptococcus and bifido bacteria.
And absence of these friendly bacteria might actually lead to
non-bacterial prostatitis or chronic prostatitis.
